From idea to model / final piece, processing chain usually follows three steps:
1. CAD
Workpiece design, using 2D, 2½D or 3D CAD software
- this produces a file containing geometrical information for example under HPGL, DXF or other format.
2. CAM
Toolpath definition using CAM software
- this generates trajectories the tool cutters will follow, usually under ISO G-code format3. CNC
CNC driver
- to drive the machine (mill or routing) that will produce the final shape.
